A catechist is one who instructs others in the essential teachings of Christ and His Church in the areas of faith and morals. The catechist must therefore know well and live graciously these same teachings of Christ and the Church. The catechist is both a teacher and an example to his or her students especially if he or she is to be trusted to the role of passing on faithfully and truthfully all that makes up Catholic doctrine (i.e. teaching).
St. Julie Billiart Parish seeks those who know and love the Catholic faith to present it authentically, especially to children and young men and women who are seeking to grow in faith and in the sacramental life. We are thankful to all who present themselves to the parish in the charism of teaching. Our goal is to assist such teachers to understand better the Catholic faith and explain it to our youth so as to inspire them in the practice of the virtues for a life of holiness and happiness in God.
If you are interested in being a catechist in our parish religious program, please reach out to Father Valliere.
