Musica Sacra or Sacred Music is music that has been devised for and therefore should be used only within the Church’s Sacred Liturgy, especially at Holy Mass and for the Divine Office. It is the choir’s duty to lead the parish in melodious, reverent prayer to the Lord, be it praiseful, thankful, sorrowful, or intercessory.
At St. Julie Billiart Church the parish choir ordinarily sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, as well as at other significant liturgical feasts and celebrations. Adults who are dedicated to the Holy Mass and to the practice of the faith may apply to the pastor to become part of the parish choir. Choir rehearsals are typically held on Thursday evenings.
